Embedded AI is AI that’s built directly into products, systems, or devices – rather than something you access separately. You don’t “go to” embedded AI. It’s already there, working in the background.

This might be a smart thermostat adjusting the temperature based on your habits, a car detecting obstacles, or software quietly filtering spam from your inbox. The AI isn’t the headline feature. It’s part of how the product works.

In many cases, you might not even realise you’re interacting with AI at all. That’s what makes embedded AI interesting, it becomes invisible.

As AI becomes more common, we’re likely to see less focus on standalone tools, and more on AI being built into everyday systems. Shaping decisions and behaviours without always being obvious.
