About Decoded Thinking

Making AI easier to understand, without the hype.

Decoded Thinking is a cross-industry publication focused on helping people understand what AI actually means in practice, beyond hype, fear, jargon, and surface-level demos. Through interviews, analysis, practical guides, and industry conversations, we explore how AI is being used in the real world: where it’s genuinely helping, where organisations are struggling, and some of the risks and unintended consequences that are only just starting to emerge. We focus on the practical, human, and societal side of AI, including trust, infrastructure, work, behaviour change, and adoption. The goal isn’t to make AI feel bigger or more dramatic than it is. It’s to make it feel understandable, grounded, and genuinely useful for people trying to make sense of what’s changing.

Why it exists

AI conversations often swing between extremes. Either everything is revolutionary, or everything is a disaster. In reality, most organisations are somewhere in the middle: experimenting, adapting, struggling, succeeding, questioning, improvising, and trying to work out what all of this actually means in practice. Decoded Thinking exists because there’s space for more thoughtful and honest conversations about AI. Not just what the technology can do, but what happens when it meets real people, real workplaces, and real decisions.

How it's made

A lot of the thinking behind Decoded Thinking happens away from desks and dashboards. Ideas are often shaped on dog walks, during long treadmill walks, in half-finished voice notes, after interviews, or while trying to explain something complicated in the simplest possible way. Some ideas begin as observations. Others come from conversations with people working directly in the industry. Some have been shaped in conversation with AI itself. Yes, one of them is called Ed.

Work with us

Decoded Thinking works with organisations that have something useful to add to the AI conversation. Through interviews, webinars and event coverage, we create opportunities to share expertise, experience and ideas without turning them into an advert.

Good marketing can be part of the conversation, not an interruption.

WHAT IT’S TRYING TO DO

Whether you’re leading a business, working in customer experience, studying technology, or simply trying to understand what’s changing, Decoded Thinking aims to make AI more approachable without oversimplifying it.
