A simple explanation of the “AI zoo” concept and why it’s used.

The term “AI zoo” is used to describe the growing collection of different AI models, tools, and systems that exist across companies and platforms. Rather than one unified approach, there are many variations, each with different capabilities, behaviours, and purposes.

For example, different models might specialise in language, image generation, coding, or reasoning, each trained on different data and designed with different priorities.

The result is a landscape that can feel fragmented and hard to navigate, especially as new models keep appearing.

So the question becomes: as the number of tools grows, how do we decide which ones to trust or use?
