What is “AI defence”

A simple explanation of AI defence and how it’s used.

AI defence refers to the ways AI is used to protect systems, detect threats, or respond to risks. That might include spotting unusual behaviour, filtering harmful content, or helping prevent cyberattacks.

For example, AI can analyse patterns in network traffic to flag a potential threat, or identify content that breaks platform rules.

In these cases, AI acts as a layer of protection, helping people respond faster, or at a scale that wouldn’t be possible manually.

At the same time, it creates a kind of balance. Similar technologies can also be used to create more sophisticated threats.

Which raises a bigger question: as AI is used to defend systems, how do we keep up with how it’s used to challenge them?
